I did spend some time around looking at some open source projects. A lot of tools have been developed for generating UML diagrams. I work with large XML files and at times, it is difficult to read and understand the file structure. A visual aid would be pretty handy. My aim is to develop a tool which parses an XML file and generates an XML graph if I could use that term.

So, I did a bunch of research as to which is the best language to develop the XML Visual aid tool. I figured Java is probably the best due to the large number of APIs present for the graphical part of my project and also due to the fact that string manipulation is easier. The IDE is Eclipse of course. Ubuntu gutsy gibbon version of Linux has problems when Eclipse is installed. Apparently it does not use Sun-Java by default. I downloaded the sun-java 5 package and got my eclipse up and running on my personal computer.

Researched SAX: Simple API for XML to write the XML Parser. The parser component drives the parsing of the xml file and stores the data into a data structure. SAX API is used for this parsing. Completed the parsing of the XML file and print out the results.

Is Indian Cricket going in right direction ?
Hello,
Yet another ODI, yet another defeat due to a spineless batting performance from our team.
Well, I am not expecting the team to even win a match in South Africa but I am definitely worried about India's future in cricket. The think-tank Greg Chappell and Rahul Dravid don't have a bunch of talented cricketers to pick from who can be counted at the international stage. Are the likes of Suresh Raina, Mohammad Kaif, Dinesh Mongia worthy replacements to Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar. In my opinion no. Well, these are the guys who will be in the squad as regulars in 3-4 years time. The bowling department, as it is in shambles and with Kumble on verge of retirement, looks even more grim. Compare this with Australia, where a replacement comes in and fits into the international stage very well . For eg: Stuart Clark, is almost a mini McGrath, thus allowing Australia to have McGrath for bug tournaments.
I hope the selection committe is looking into these issues. If not, this is a big problem facing the Indian cricket in the years to come.
